Pack of cards and some post it notes!

How It Works:

A pack of cards can be used in so many ways in a lesson...

For example:

Picking groups- Hand out cards to students as they enter the room- then ask students to make groups in suits? ACES? CLUBS? HEARTS? DIAMONDS?
Or picture cards, number cards and so on...

Cards can also be used to explore texts- gain points of views- using the picture cards-
'What would a King/QUEEN/JOKER think about this?'

Cards can also be used to signify points in a quiz?
Or to peer assess a student answers- A red card could link to a HOT answer? a Black card to a COLD answer- and the numbers between 1-10 could indicate the strength.

Or use them like the picture displays as a pair game- Some cards have keywords/some definitions. Students pick up two at a time- decide if they have a pair- if not place them back in exact same position.

Drama use cards- to assess the relationships between characters and hierarchy.

You can also use cards by replacing...
E.G-

Deal out cards- ask groups to come together and construct answers?

(It is always handy knowing a few card tricks! Promising to teach students one will really help engage some of the most difficult of students!)

WHY NOT BUY SOME BLANK CARDS? AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN GAMES? ADD YOUR OWN PICTURES? SUITS? VALUES?
